5 things not to miss at Jazz on the Green
One of the most anticipated things to look forward to at this year’s Aberdeen Jazz Festival is the timeless Jazz on the Green. 17 bands, eight stages and four full hours of entertainment for the whole family. Here are my top things not to miss at Jazz on the Green on Sunday 19 March 2017:
1. Union Square
I don’t know about you but I couldn’t think of many things much better than a Sunday afternoon shopping with live entertainment whilst I do so! Join Dave Manning, Cindy Douglas and Graeme Stephen live in Union Square from 2-5pm to celebrate the best of blues and jazz.
2. The Rooftop Garden
It’s time to take the outdoor party to the The Roof Garden at St Nicholas where the likes of DopeSickFly and Oceans 3 will entertain audiences all afternoon!
If you’d rather be under the city than looking over it then head to the Tunnels for this nifty part of Jazz on the Green. Enjoy Full Fat Band, Further On and Silver City Soul Revue.
4. The Green
The Green is one of Aberdeen’s historic medieval merchant quarter – it was also an important point of entry into the city. We’re giving you the best excuse to visit it with three full hours of live jazz, soul and funk!
5. Belmont Filmhouse
This is pretty cool… Aberdeen’s oldest and only independent cinema is hosting Jazz on the Green too! There’s four hours of live performances including highlights from Trio JCB and Aberdeen University Big Band!
The full Jazz on the Green programme takes place on Sunday 19th March from 1-5pm with gigs across eight venues also including Carmelite, St Nicholas Street and Café Drummond. Visit www.aberdeenjazzfestival.com/assets/files/JOTG17.pdf for the full programme.
