Aberdeen Festivals' top tips for AIYF
Aberdeen International Youth Festival (AIYF) is one of the world’s largest celebrations of youth arts, and is back in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire from 28 July – 5 August! Whether you’re coming alone, with friends, with a partner or with your family, here are some top tips for a great festival experience:
1. Study the programme
This means you can pack in as much during each day as possible – and of course, makes sure you won’t miss a thing! Find out where events are and give yourself plenty of time to hop around festival venues!
2. See what’s near by
As well as key festival performances in the city, there are also many shows out in Aberdeenshire so this is the perfect chance to tie-in some sightseeing and visits to our top tourist attractions! Head to the www.visitabdn.com website for information!
3.Get foodie inspiration
Make a list of all of the places you really want to eat and drink before you visit the festival. That way there will be no quibbles when deciding where to refuel in-between festival shows! From local delicacies and sweet treats to fine dining, there’s so many places to try.
4. Visit the pop-up gallery for free festival tickets
This is an insider’s tip! If you visit AIYF’s 3D Hot Air Balloon Pop-Up Gallery in Bon Accord Centre (well worth a trip), there are special vouchers on offer which will get you two free tickets to the festival*!
5. Don’t miss the festival headliners
If you’re strapped for time but really want a full festival experience then don’t miss the AIYF headliners! This includes the AIYF International Variety Gala, AIYF Festival in the City, the Aberdeen Mela and the AIYF Welcome Concert!
