Play the night
One of Aberdeen’s favourite winter festivals returns to brighten our dark February nights in 2018! SPECTRA is set to get people talking yet again as it places light installations across sights in Aberdeen city centre from 8-11 February 2018.
SPECTRA will light up key locations including Union Terrace Gardens, the atmospheric Kirk of St Nicholas as well as iconic Marischal College – and there will also be two new locations added…
Expect an ‘octopus garden’, play the night, noise orchestra, the ‘lightweight impossible’ and light harp as just some of the light installations that will pop-up! Don’t miss ‘King Orpheo’ – a artwork projection on the dramatic façade of His Majesty’s Theatre which tells the story of a medieval myth! And if you feel like burning off all those festive calories then hop on board the light battle – a bicycle light-artwork, take a seat and let the battle commence!
And the best thing? This year SPECTRA will be adding a music programme to its four-day festival! With DJ’s and music artists from the UK and Norway, there will also be inspiring AV shows from Electronic Music. Artists include; Mental Overdrive, Cymbals, Plaid and Steve Cobby!
Whether you’ve seen the striking photos on social media or on billboards in Aberdeen, the real thing is sure to turn your head too. For more information about Aberdeen’s light festival visit https://aberdeenfestivals.com/our-festivals/spectra.
