NEOS - supporting the artists and makers all year round
The artists, makers and designers of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire may have closed their studio doors for this year’s North East Open Studios (NEOS) but the creativity does not stop.
Across the North-East many studios are open through the whole year by appointment with creatives happy to welcome enquiries, commissions and visitors too.
NEOS will support the Shop Local Campaign and we encourage you to invest in your local economy and what better way to do that than with a unique piece of work from a NEOS member.
So, if you would like to seek out makers working in traditional heritage crafts keeping the skills alive in modern way, sculptors chiselling away in dusty workshops, mixed media artists and a host of painters working in a fabulous array of mediums along with jewellers, ceramicists, textile artists and designers in glass and wood what should you do?
If you have a copy of your Little Yellow Book (an invaluable resource which can be used throughout the year to help source unique and locally produced items) use that, follow our Facebook page for information on current exhibitions and events, or use the website www.northeastopenstudios.co.uk
From rustic wood to delicate illustrations, fragile paper cutting, bold or subtle pieces there is something for everyone all Inspired in this land – where the sea meets the mountains.
We are delighted that NEOS has been shortlisted in the ACASTA Best Cultural Event Category 2018. As a Festival run by volunteers which from humble beginnings with just 67 exhibitors, to this our Festival’s 15th year, with 280 local artists now exhibiting making our open studios event one of the largest in the UK; this public acknowledgement of our achievement and recognition of our Festivals importance on the cultural map of the region is fantastic.
