Our Silver City Stories
Aberdeen’s story is one of history, heritage and archaeology and one that is told through our unique culture and long standing traditions.
Aberdeen’s newest strand of events will celebrate the North-east’s famous Silver City Stories. Created by over very own local residents, artists and communities this programme of events, from 26 June – 2 July 2017, celebrates some of Scotland’s biggest icons as well as showcasing our hidden gems.
The best news is that most of these events are free! Here’s some things not to miss during Silver City Stories:
28 June – Marching the stones
Find out about the 26-miles of stones that mark the boundaries of the city of Aberdeen as granted by Robert the Bruce in the 14th Century.
28 June-15 July – The changing face of Union Street
It’s been the heart and soul of Aberdeen from the early 19th century – it is lined by some of the finest architecture around.
30 June – Stolen voices
Ever considered the acoustic textures of the Granite City? This group of artists have been listening in and will be performing at this Stolen Voices event.
30 June-1 July – Scottish culture and traditions, Silver City stramash
A celebration of the best music, sound and dance history and heritage of our beautiful city.
1-2 July – sound – Silver city pop-up opera
Taking place in some of the most historic areas in Aberdeen, there will be three operas linked to Aberdeen’s long past…
