What we wish everyone knew about Scottish Traditional Boat Festival
Our newest festival member, Scottish Traditional Boat Festival, takes place this month in Aberdeenshire from 24-25 June! And there’s some things we want you all to know:
Get your picture taken with a real Viking! All the way from Shetland, the Up Helly Aa Viking Squad will be at the festival on hand to answer all your questions about Viking life. For the wee ones there’s an exciting Viking treasure hunt.
Admire beautiful historic vessels and small boats. Learn all about the skill of boat and sail making. Cheer from the shore as the crews skiff race. Or try rowing! This is your chance to learn all about our heritage.
Full flavoured, hearty and comforting, there’s a reason Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire are so well known for their food and drink offering. Sample some of the finest at this festival, and with live demonstrations, learn how to use these ingredients in your favourite dishes!
Get to know the picturesque Aberdeenshire Coast even better by joining in the festival 10k run. There’s also a 2K ‘Wee Sporran’ race for the kids too (or adults – there’s no upper age limit)!
Celebrate the full festival weekend in style with open mic nights, marquee’s and Urang Mutang live in Portsoy! With fully licensed bars, MC’s and ceilidh dancing, we can promise a great folk weekend.
