Awesome things to see at STBF
Do you want to really get to know this place? Join 16,000 people and get a true flavour of our long history and heritage at our Scottish Traditional Boat Festival (STBF) taking place this summer in Aberdeenshire.
The 25th annual festival, taking place in Portsoy across the weekend of 30 June – 1 July 2018, will showcase our relationship with our coast through a programme of live music, food and drink as well as skiff racing and boats. Here’s some pretty cool things you could see at the festival this year.
Get up close to historic vessels and small boats as they dock in the quaint harbour of this Aberdeenshire fishing village. You will have the chance to learn about the skill of boat and sail making and meet the people who have been lovingly crafting these vessels for years. Of course a festival highlight is the skiff-racing. So get ready to cheer on the competitors as they race across the choppy seas.
Being a ‘foodie’ seems to be a bit of a trend right now so we want to give you a full flavoured experience at our boat festival. That means you will be full to the brim with hearty and comforting local food and drink. There’s a reason Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire are so well known for its produce and we want you to sample some of the finest; and you can also watch live demonstrations and learn how to use these ingredients in your favourite dishes.
There will also be a chance to watch on as many traditional local crafts men and women carve, weave, knit and sculpt live at the festival – buy one of the crafts to take a piece of Portsoy home with you.
